SUMMER OR NOT?

Hey guys!
I've been gone for a bit again - reason is the same pretty much, I don't do much than work on weekends and just chill during the week. Nothing too exciting to actually write about. At the same time I just haven't been feeling like writing anything, I don't really know why. But I do know that if I feel that way, I shouldn't be doing it, so I haven't.

I still thought you deserved an update though! I work at the Elephant every friday and saturday (I have mentioned that before right? Can't even remember what I've written haha!), and I absolutely love it there! People are amazing and I'm having so much fun at work - especially now that I've gotten into it quite a bit. So yeah, I'll tell you a little bit about The Elephant British Pub: it's a British pub (obviously..) and we do what a pub usually does - pub food, many different tap beers, drinks and the pub atmosphere of course. There's two bars, one down stairs and one upstairs. In the weekends quite a few people come in, and there's a band playing live upstairs as well as a DJ later on, so it also has kind of a "club feeling" to it when it's busy. I'm mainly behind the bar, but we do all sorts of work there. It's really fun, as I've never worked behind a bar before I must say that I really enjoy it. It can be hard to understand what people say sometimes, since I have to deal with loud music, accents, nick names, 30 different beers and so on, but it's not that bad and I'm getting a hang of it. I like the social aspect of it, you talk to so many people, and they're often quite interested since they can tell I'm not from here. Until now I've been Canadian, Irish, American, Scottish, British and Dutch. I get Canadian and Irish quite often, but nobody has gotten it right yet - I guess it's pretty fair since I probably have a mixed American and Danish accent, so it's not that easy to pick up on haha.
But yeah, I work from 6,7 or 8 pm until close, which is about 3 am. After that we have a knock-off drink and I'm usually home around 4-4.30, or maybe not until the morning if we head out afterwards. It was tough the first couple of times, but now I've gotten used to it, so it's not bad at all.

I am searching for a second job as well, since I don't do much during the week and I'm pretty tight money-wise as I have to pay 30-something percent tax... It sucks! But I'll manage. We'll see, hopefully I'll get some more, or else this will have to do, we'll see.

Let's see, what have I been up to? Well last time we spoke Carl was still here, and we didn't do much than just hang out, talk, watch movies and so on. It was really nice having some company at that stage, so perfect timing. We went and had dinner with Jen and Aldo one night - I don't see them much right now, since I'm working weekends and have to stay in town then, so it was really nice seeing them again. Last thursday it was halloween and we went to Tanikas place (an awesome girl from work), had a few drinks, dressed up and then we went to PJ's, which is another pub/club/whatever, for a halloween party. We had so much fun, and we got prettyyyyy drunk haha. It was an awesome night, and pretty much everybody was hungover at work on friday. My piercing that had just turned one week old that same day became badly infected after halloween night, I have no idea what we did, but it sucked. Now it's back on track though, and hopefully it'll stay like that!
Carl left on monday, which was also Katjas birthday. My little sis turned 18. It's so weird. I can't believe that she's a grown up now, it's gone so fast. I made her a video that was played at her party on saturday, and it was so hard not to cry. You know me, cry baby for the win right here. So monday was a rough day, it was Katjas birthday and I was also all alone again, which felt really weird.. I talked to Katja, wished her a happy birthday and then I went to Tanika's to watch some movies and cheer me up a bit. It worked hehe. I stayed until tuesday, where we went to the beach - it was 28 degrees and we spend the whole day baking in the sun, aaaaah, so nice! We even met santa at hte beach and got a picture haha ;-) some other people came as well, we chilled, aaaand I had my first ever swim in Australia (I actually did it, but I made sure there were always people around to be eaten first if a shark came hahaha - nah, but the water was really clear, so I made it). We finished the day off with a drink and dinner at the Elephant.
Wednesday Tanika had invited me to come stay with her parents for the night. They live an hour away by train, a little into the country. It was absolutely boiling that day, like 35 degrees (and that's not even hot here, I am going to die later on). But yeah, we went to her parents place and I got to see the countryside, which was awesome! On thursday Tanika and I drove to her old town near the Murray River, so I could see that. We met up with her friend, went to a small museum, had awesome lunch and just played tourists for the day. It was a lot of fun! We were supposed to go out thursday night after returning to Adelaide, but we had bot gotten sick and felt terrible, so we stayed home and watched disney movies with some guys from work and Tanika's roommate Jay. We really needed that haha. Friday was work, yesterday I went for a run (I've gained so much weight here, that I'm about to die when I step on the scale....) and then work. After work I went for more drinks with some of the guys and I came home around 9.30 this morning - it's a good start, I'm slowly but steady getting into it haha!

So yeah, that brings us to today. I've had about 4 hours of sleep, woke up at 2 pm, and just sat for a while researching gyms in the area.. they're so expensive though, but I kinda have to do it, soon it'll be too hot to go running as well, gaaah. Then I went for a small run and was gonna do some exercises half way. Buuuut faith didn't want that, I had an encounter with a man on a bike, basically I ran into him, he drove into me, we both fell, and I have no skin left on my left leg.... well, that's slightly exaggerated, but I have a burn from the tire and it hurts like shit. Weeee. We were both okay though, and I actually continued my work-out, it just became a little shorter than what I would have liked it to be haha. Oh well.
Later I'm gonna talk to my lovely family, and then probably go to bed.

What else? Hmmmm. Yeah, the weather is really weird. It's super cold right now, like 15 degrees, and the other day it was 35. I swear to god it's schizophrenic, it doesn't make sense at all! But hopefully it'll be more steady soon! I'm getting visitors very soon as well - Frederik is coming in 3.5 weeks, and I'm sooooo excited! I really like having the company of somebody here. After these two months I've figured out that I just don't do well alone at all. I've learned that if I have to be away from family and friends for this long, I'll have to have someone with me that I know. Otherwise I just get too lonely haha! So I'm really looking forward to him coming, and the best part? When he leaves, Katja comes the very next day! SO EXCITED! And another best part? I've just ordered tickets to a concert that me and Frederik are gonna go to with Tanika, Jay and Lachy (another guy from work). It's City and Colour, and I'm beyond excited. Tanika asked me if I've ever heard of the band, cause she really wanted to go, and I was like YESSSSS OH MY GOD! It's going to be amazing, just saying! December 10th, I'm waiting for you.

Well I guess that was it for an update... haha. Here's some pics to go along, I don't have a lot, but there's a few ;-)

PS. Today is Pernille's birthday. One of the bestest friends on earth. I LOVE YOU. Okay, bye.
