Hi everyone!
I'm back with a lot of updating to do. I've had a couple of really busy weeks, so I haven't been able to update you until now.
Two weeks ago I went away with a guy from work called Blake over the week. He has family out on the countryside and we went to visit them. It takes about 6 hours to get there in car, so it was quite a roadtrip, but that's alright - I really enjoy driving and sitting in a car, so I don't mind. At the same time I had a lot to look at, since I've never been far out of Adelaide, so it was exciting!
We stayed with Blake's grandma (I think) and her husband in a town called Cleve. Very lovely people, I really enjoyed to stay with them! On tuesday we went to Blake's uncles farm, which is located a little way out of Cleve. It's about 2000 hectare big(!!!), there were just fields and fields and fields. It was truly amazing, and I loved it there. We drove around the farm in a pick-up truck, and even got lost a couple of times, because the land is so big. It was a lot of fun!
At that point they were harvesting canola (raps) and were going to harvest peas and wheat in a bit. The moisture was a little too high though, so they didn't harvest all of it, but I still got to experience a little harvesting in a huge harvester! They had many different kinds of wheat, and I tried to point out the one that looked the most like the one we usually have. Trying to explain that I live on a farm back home was a little hard though, since I'm not sure our little piece of land would even count as a farm here haha! They were all very impressed by the mill and how old it was though, which was pretty cool.
Blake's uncle and his wife, Andrea, were amazing people and showed me around as much as they could giving me the real experience of an Australian farm. Andrea took me down to areas where they've planted trees and vegetation in order to improve the soil and wildlife, to see if there were any wild kangaroos. I was super excited since I've seen more dead than alive since I've gotten here (roadkills). At first it didn't seem like we would see any, but them all of a sudden we saw about 30 (!!) in a short period of time! They were really close, and I was just sitting there like "Oh my god, it's a kangaroo, it's so cool". When driving back there were some big ones behind a fence, and all of a sudden a huge one jumps the fence right in front of us - it jumped about 2-3 meters, and it was awesome!
Later Blake's uncle took us to the wind mill farm, which is about 30 wind mills close to their farm. It had an amazing view, and I was truly stunned about it.
The day at the farm was probably one of my best days here. I felt so like home, and discovered that I will probably always be a farm girl at heart. It was so amazing there, and I could really see myself staying at a place like that for a while - but that must be another adventure. Also, dad would have loved it! He would be so jealous. I hope one day I can show him this place, because he would be so amazed by it. It's an experience I would love him to have. Of course I had to take some pictures of all the machines just for him hehe ;-)
The day following the farm trip we just went down the coast a bit and visited all the small coast towns. It was really beautiful, and I can't get over how blue and clear the ocean is here! We had a chill day exploring the small towns and hanging out, before leaving for Adelaide on thursday morning. When we had driven for about an hour the car starts to loose speed and act weird (in the middle of nowhere), and we have to pull over. We thought it was the fuel and fill the car up, but it wouldn't start up again. None of us has service on our cell phones, and we're like "crap.... what do we do?". I managed to get some service, but when we try to make a call, we discover that I'm out of credit on my phone, so we can't call. Shiiiiiit. Luckily Blake had a refill code that he bought for his phone, so we put it on my phone and manages to call for help. After waiting for an hour a tow truck comes and picks us up driving us to the nearest town. Here we're dropped off at a mechanic and have to grab a taxi to Blake's auntie's house, who luckily lives in the same town. After being delayed by 3 hours the mechanic calls us and tells that he put some fuel in the car, and that it works now. HAHAHA, it was just the fuel. Seriously, it's so funny that you can't even be mad about it. So delayed a couple of hours we head back to Adelaide, and I now have the experience of breaking down in the Australian outback!
I'll be writing about last week in another blog post - I went out to the country side again, to Port Lincoln, with Tanika, her sister and her fiance.
Today I have work for a couple of hours, and then I'll be talking to my mom! I'm excited, last weekend we didn't get to talk much, and I miss her so much. It's gonna be really nice :-) Later tonight I'll be going out for some drinks I think, we'll see.
Also, there's only 10 days til Frederik comes, and 24 days til Katja comes! OMG SO EXCITED!

| The beautiful cat of the farm! Isn't she gorgeous?! Just wanted to take her back home with me<3 I seriously miss having a pet here, I now completely understand 17-year-old me that wanted Mismis, because I felt lonely! Can't wait to have him near me again for those lonely days haha. I actually miss animals so much that I've considered volunteering for an animal shelter whilst here, but I looked it up and apparently it's not that easy :( I would've loved to go and cuddle with all the cats a couple times a week though. |

| For daddy! ;-) |
| Coming from Denmark you rarely think about how valuable water actually is. Here in South Australia some summers are so bad, that there are restrictions on when you can water your garden and how long your showers can be. Sounds crazy when you're from a country where it rains most of the year, huh? Well Mark and Andrea have made this function that gathers all rainwater and dew and brings it into a pond. It's located at the highest spot of their property, so it runs right down to their house where they need it - that's smart! |
| Such beautiful landscapes! |
| One of the many types of wheat |
| What can I say, daddy's girl! |
| Canola! |
| This lizzard loves strawberries, haha! |
| The sheep just walking around the fields. |
| The sheep shearing shed. I ALMOST got to see sheep being sheared, but we were about 10 minutes late :( but oh well, another time for that. |
| A brown snake that Mark killed. They are the most dangerous snake in Australia. Nasty ones! First time I've seen a snake here, now all I'm missing is seeing a huntsmen spider the size of a plate! |
| Loved the sign at the entry of the farm :) I LOVED this place, I wanna go back hehe. |
| In love with these hills, doesn't it look awesome? So smooth and curvy haha |
| Remember I had an encounter with a bike 2 weeks ago? My whole leg was swollen and I actually couldn't walk for two days after - now I have another pretty scar on my leg, yay...... |
| The water is amazingly clear here, you can see everything pretty much! |
