...and I'm sorryyy. Happy 2014! But honestly, time is flying, I don't know where it's gone.
It's been a month since last time I updated on here. A month. Seems like a couple of days ago I thought of it and was like, it's been two weeks I should probably post something. Oops.
Anyway, Katja was still here last time I updated. Actually it was still 2013 when I last updated. I haven't updated since 2013. Hahaha. It's sort of funny.
New years I worked. It was fun. We got to wear casual beach clothes, since we had a beach theme going on. It was the weirdest thing ever, like where do I wipe my hands when I don't have an apron? But we had fun. Katja was in all night and had drinks and spoke to people. After work we went to Caroline's (girl that I work with) and had more drinks and ended up in a little pool at 11 am. It was a good night. And I had to work the next day haha. So yeah, did that, wasn't too bad actually.
What else. Then Katja and I just hung out and had fun. We went out with people from work on Sunday, managed to forget my key at a friend's place, so we had to crawl through my window at 6 am slightly (maybe a bit more, but yeah) intoxicated. Fun times looking back at it, not that fun at the time considering the bruises on my lower back and the fact that I couldn't sit down for a couple of days. Yay, drunk times.
On tuesday we went swimming with wild dolphins. It was so cold, but so good. Laying in the water with the dolphins swimming 5 meters away from you was so amazing. It was my birthday/christmas present for Katja, and I think we both thought it was an amazing experience. I wanna do it again some day, even with like whales. It would be the coolest thing ever.
Tuesday night the Bratovics took us to a nice restaurant to say goodbye to Katja. And actually I haven't even seen them since, which again makes me think that this past month has gone way too fast.
Then Katja had to leave. It was sad. Saying goodbye in the airport was hard. Her suitcase could barely close and was so heavy, since she brought back most of my stuff as well. On the way to the airport we had a taxi driver called Sukhdeep. I thought it was hilarious haha. The 3 weeks we spend together were amazing, we had so much fun, got so many good experiences, and I truly realized that age is not something that separates us anymore. It makes me happy to think that your sister can also be one of your best friends. So I think it's safe to say that those three weeks were some of the best in Australia so far. On my way into town after dropping her off at the air port I met a guy in the bus. Or more accurately he met me. I was not in the mood to talk to strangers, but he sure was. He showed me pictures of last time he was in Adelaide. All of them with a chicken teddy bear in them, and him describing it as "that was the day we went to Mt. Lofty. Chicken liked Mt. Lofty. Here's Chicken in front of the casino. Chicken is happy because he found 5 dollars. Here's chicken after being in the casino. Chicken is sad cause he lost 5 dollars". Why do I meet people like this? hahaha. He then showed me his new friend that was with him this time, shark. I filmed part of it, but then I got caught. Haha, fun times.
Thursday after that we went out. I think. Haha. And basically since Katja left I haven't been doing much and still I've been doing so much. Does that make sense? I've been hanging out with people having fun times, gone to the beach, had dinner at work and really just enjoyed. I've been planning my trip with Christina as well, and we've now ordered our tickets to Hong Kong and from Hong Kong and home. So for those of you who wonder I'll be back April 5th.
Christina will be here in about 20 days. I'm so excited, and yet it makes me sad to think that I'll leave Adelaide and people here. I don't want to. I've decided that if I can I will study 6 months here, and we've also decided that Tanika will do the same in Denmark hehe.
I feel attached to this place more than what I thought just 2 months ago. More than I did to Vegas, like I really just want to come back here, because I will miss it so much. Going home excites me, but it also makes me depressed, because I'm not gonna be able to just live life and have fun as I am right now with these amazing people. And to be honest, the thought of starting uni and all that (which used to get me excited) now doesn't really appeal to me at all.
I just wanna go travel the world and experience it all. Live. Now I have a life here, and I have a life at home, and it's gonna be so hard to combine those two and make me feel happy and complete. I know it's getting deep right now, but that's how it is haha.
So yeah. Right now I'm just enjoying. I'm working, hanging out, partying, having fun basically. And that's what I plan to do the next 20 days until I leave Adelaide. My mind has already started to come up with ways to save up money to go back as soon as possible to visit. I wish I could just win the lottery and buy a house here. I'll get a lottery ticket when I come home.
I guess that writing on here makes me realize how little time I have left, and it makes me sad. So I avoid it for a bit haha. I will give updates when I can though, especially during our trip. Our plans right now is to spend some days in Adelaide, then drive to Melbourne on the great ocean road. We'll then fly to New Zealand and spend a week there - hopefully we'll get to sky dive! After that we'll fly to Sydney, spend a couple of days there and then start making our way up the east coast. We have a definite stop in Brisbane where we'll be visiting mom's cousin Karen and then we will fly out from Cairns on march 31st. Up the east coast our plans include surf school, rain forest walking and diving the great barrier reef. Amazingness right there.
I'll fill you in as soon as we know more, and as soon as we start our trip!
Until then, enjoy pictures of my last month. There's not a lot. But it's there.
Other stuff that happened in January includes: heat wave, Adelaide was the hottest town on earth one of the days and we had a week of 40-46 degree weather. I nearly died, but I survived. I dip-dyed my hair blue/green, and mom and dad hate it haha. I love it though, and I needed some change (don't worry, it'll fade out). We went ice skating, because 43 degrees doesn't invite you to do anything else. We had a BBQ in the park and it was amazingly good. We went and saw The Book Thief (go watch it!! Such a good movie, I was sobbing the whole way through, but it's so good. Makes you think about life in such weird ways. So worth it) It was Australia Day on the 26th and we celebrated Australia with BBQ's and drinks.. or that means the rest of Australia did, cause I was workinggg. But it was alright, we had drinks afterwards, and then I was happy.

Yeah Tanja! So glad to hear about all your amazing experiences! Making me wish I simply could pause my studies and join you in Australia. I want to go abroad so bad right now!!! :(
ReplyDeleteFair warning: "I don't know if I will be able to keep reading your posts, it's too damn hard Tanja!" :D
Kidding of course, haha. But seriously a little jealous here!
Enjoy the rest of your time there and come back home! We'll go out with the rest of the guys and rock Copenhagen, Aussie style!! :D
