Again it's been a few weeks and I can barely remember what I did 2 weeks ago... haha, great job Tanja.
Well I've been working obviously.. Tanika and I decided to join a promotion thing for Coca Cola, who is doing a campaign for 6 weeks and giving away cokes all over Australia. We thought it would be a fun thing to try out, and we could get a little extra towards our savings as well haha. So we went for a training session for that last thursday and afterwards spend the rest of day shopping and having coffee with Jay (Tanika's roommate) as well. It was raining, which means a perfect day for shopping and coffee ;-) later that night we got spontaneous and went out with some of the guys from work. We went to PJ's (a pub that has 3 dollar vodkas on thursdays - we like!) and stayed out all night pretty much. Fun times riding the pigs at Rundle Mall and just running around the streets of Adelaide hehe.
Weekend means working and nothing else pretty much, so yup. Monday Tan and I had dinner at work and then went to watch the new Hunger Games. I hadn't even watched the first one, so of course I had to do that before, and I must admit that I got quite into it haha. The second one was just as good, but holy crap, I'm so annoyed at the ending! (those of you who've seen it knows...). We chilled a bit at work afterwards, just because we couldn't be bothered walking back to Tanika's haha. Tuesday we had planned a beach day, it was going to be 31 degrees and sun, and we were really excited. We woke up to a huge thunderstorm though.... But a couple of hours in we decided to go anyway, since we'd been so keen to go. So we went to the beach with Kristian (english dude from work as weeell) and went swimming and whatever you do at a beach in 20 degrees and overcast. We had fun though. We then went for coffee and then back home. I had to sort some stuff out, because wednesday Frederik arrived!!
Apparently I gave him a wrong phone number, but he found his way here (luckily!), and it was sooooo good seeing him again! First thing we did was go into town and I showed him around for a bit. Had dinner in Chinatown and then a drink at work. First then he was allowed to sleep hehe, no jet lag thanks! Oh and he brought me 2.5 kg candy. Talk about a good friend right there! I almost ate it all already, makes me feel really bad. Or well I haven't eaten much of the sismofytter (and they do weigh like 1 kg), so I'm not THAT bad. I guess....
Thursday was our first (and probably for my part last as well haha) Coke promotion thingie! We had to stand at the Adelaide Oval (where all sporting events are held), since the Ashes are on right now. The ashes is a big Cricket event between Australia and England and they have cricket games there all week. We handed out cokes to people for about 4 hours (it was freezing in a singlet...), but it was a lot of fun! I don't think I'll be doing any more shifts, since the other one I had has been cancelled and most of them are in the weekends where we are working at the pub :-) but oh well, it was a really fun experience, and I'd like to promo work again, it's actually not bad at all!
Then it's been work at the pub for the weekend. It's been really busy because of the cricket. Since we are a British pub we get all the English fans in to watch the cricket and to drink afterwards. They are called the Barmy Army, and have bunch of songs and slogans they sing, and yeah, it's been really fun working this weekend, the atmosphere has been awesome! Saturday I went to a Christmas lunch at Jen's parents house with her side of the family, and had my first Christmas pudding! It's a tradition in Australia like we do risalamande. It's a fruit cake with brandy custard on top, and it's really good. I also got a christmas present from the "grandparents", which was really really nice of them! Didn't expect that at all!
Frederik went to Kangaroo Island for the weekend since I was working anyway. The weather has been really good, so hopefully he has had an amazing trip! He comes back tonight, and I'm really glad he had the opportunity to go and experience some more of Australia, I was a bit scared I was gonna bore him here in Adelaide haha ;-)
Talking about Kangaroo Island, it is now official that we are going there over Christmas! My friend Lachy from work offered to come with him to his dad's place for Christmas, and we ordered the ferry tickets the other day. I can't even describe my excitement!!! GAAAAH, it's gonna be so good. I'm so glad I can actually take Katja somewhere really cool and different as well! And it's just awesome to get to see more of Australia :-) Google Kangaroo Island and take a look! Jealous? ;-) it's supposed to have some of Australia's best beaches and there's gonna be penguins and seals too. Also there's huge sand dunes where you can ride a four wheeler or a wooden board. I'M SO EXCITED!
At the moment I am seriously trying to get in the right Christmas Spirit, but it's sooo hard! I have a christmas playlist on spotify that I'm listening to ALL the time, and I'm singing along, dancing around, like really trying HARD. But it's just not working haha. I decided that I really want to be in a christmas mood, since I love this time of year so much, but I'm not sure I love it that much in the heat haha. Considering I am gonna spend it on white sand beaches it's safe to say it's not going to be a normal Christmas at all ;-) It's just so weird, I can't get used to it at all, and forget everything about Christmas all the time, but oh well.
The next week we're gonna go to a concert (City and Colour - so excited!) and I'm taking Frederik up to the hills for a couple of days to hike around there and go to the conservation park and feed little kangaroos and hold koalas! It's gonna be great, I can feel it. Then hopefully we'll have some beach weather before Frederik leaves, so we can hang out down there for a day or two, getting our tan on and so ;-) But yeah, the weather has been so weird lately, even more than usually. Yesterday was super hot, probably the warmest I've experienced so far, and then tomorrow it's gonna be 20 and rain. It's weird.
Christina and I are also getting closer at planning our trip, and I can already tell that it's going to be legendary! I'm beyond excited for that trip, and guess what? It's only 2.5 months away! It's so crazy to think about. I've been away from home for 3 months already. I've spend more than half of the time I'll spend in Adelaide.. It's kinda sad. And really weird, it doesn't feel like time has gone so fast, but apparently it has! I'm so excited for the next couple of months. I know this will be the best time of my life, and I can't wait to get more! :-D
I'll get back to you with another update soon, stay cool back home (probably not gonna be a problem) ;-)
